Yoga and meditation
Mountain, tree, triangle, chair. What do these words have in common? They are all yoga poses. Yoga, along with meditation, are becoming common practices in today’s stressful world. There are more and more studies that show the benefits of yoga and meditation for your body and mind. They are good habits that can help you feel better. Yoga comes from a Sanskrit word meaning “union of the body and mind”. It involves mental concentration and also physical movement and poses. It has many health benefits. It helps you to relax and it reduces stress by decreasing activity in the sympathetic nervous system. It increases flexibility, strengthens your muscles, and reduces your blood pressure. It can also help with back pain and improve cardiovascular and mental health. Meditation is an exercise for the mind and spirit that includes two stages: concentration and contemplation. Like yoga, it can also boost a person’s mood. It changes the neurology of the brain by altering brain waves, creating a deeper awareness. Meditation lowers stress and can also increase concentration. It reduces negative emotions and increases imagination and creativity.

Yoga
#1Yoga has had its boom more recently, partly thanks to influencers and social networks, but it also remains one of the strongest disciplines when it comes to exercising.
#2 The most notable difference between Yoga and Pilates is that Yoga has a spiritual component that Pilates does not. In Yoga the practice of the different asanas and postures and of the different breaths is directed towards meditation, with a more mystical aspect than Pilates, which is purely physical.
MEDITATION
#1Meditation is an ancient practice that has boomed in popularity in Western countries in recent decades. For those who are new to meditative practice, they can be a bit confusing associated with meditation: mantras, chakras, Vipassana Meditation, Tonglen Meditation, etc.
#2In summary, these are some benefits of meditation:
Increase your self-knowledge: some forms of meditation help you to reflect on your own experience.
Mitigates the effects of stress: helps to find calm and reduce levels of stress and anxiety.
It positively affects the immune system: it has positive effects on general health.
Improves attention span and concentration: works on self-awareness and attention.
